International AI forum held in Optics Valley

The 2018 China Optics Valley International Forum on Artificial Intelligence (AI) was held at the Optics Valley Capital Tower in East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, on Dec 1.
The forum was directed by the Science and Technology Department of Hubei Province and hosted by the professional introduction bureau of Optics Valley.
More than 300 experts and company representatives in the AI sector attended the forum.
Zeng Yumei, deputy director of the zone's professional introduction bureau, addressed the meeting, stating that Optics Valley is a place gathering strategic emerging industries such as optoelectronic information, life health, and high-end equipment manufacturing, and it is also attracting professionals from all over the world.
By releasing some policies, the zone's AI industry is developing rapidly, added Zeng.
Cui Baoqiu, chief architect of Xiaomi, one of China's tech giants, introduced that Xiaomi has put AI in top priority in its development, and the technology is applied broadly in Xiaomi's products.
Other attendees including Zhou Dewen, deputy director of the Science and Technology Department of Hubei Province, and Chen Shiqing, a world famous supercomputer expert, also delivered keynote speeches at the forum.
Following speeches, a round-table dialogue was held, with experts and scholars in AI sector discussing ways in which to help Wuhan lead the AI development in the country.
In addition, seven entrepreneurs showed their AI projects during the event, and a smart caring system for the elderly was selected as the most investment valuable.
