One of China's major research institutes in biophysics is offering incentives to lure global talents to help cultivate world-class research capabilities in the field of life and health.

With the development of biophysics in recent years, the Institute of Biophysics (IBP) under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a leading national research institution, is currently looking for young and established researchers to act as research team leaders. Founded in 1958, IBP currently has 80 laboratories in various biological research areas, including two key national labs.

IBP is interested in candidates in the fields of biochemistry, cell biology, structural biology, neurobiology, infection and immunology, RNA biology, epigenetics and genomics, and bioimaging. Applications in the areas of brain and cognitive sciences, cryo-electron tomography, protein design and computational structural biology, as well as gene editing, are highly preferred.

To attract more talents, IBP has promised internationally competitive salaries and benefits, and starting funds. Candidates just need to provide their resumes, three reference letters and a research plan (materials should be sent directly to qiaorunxin@ibp.ac.cn).

The China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) recently issued a list of 335 sci-tech workers approved for its training program, with two from the Biophysical Society of China (BSC).

PhD holders Lan Pengfei and Liu Liang, both focused on structural biology research, will receive funding of 150,000 yuan ($22,424.5) annually for three consecutive years.

The training program, initiated in October 2015 by CAST, offers financial support to sci-tech workers under 32 to create a think tank for the development of science and technology across the country.
