Shanghai records 28 locally transmitted cases

Shanghai reported 28 locally transmitted COVID-19 asymptomatic cases on Saturday, bringing the total number of infection cases in this local wave to 64 in the city, the Shanghai municipal government said on Sunday.
This latest wave, which started Tuesday, includes nine confirmed cases.
Among the cases reported on Saturday, six were workers at hotels where inbound travelers are quarantined, and they tested positive during regular nuclei acid testing on Saturday.
All the other cases were close contacts of the previously reported cases over the last days, and tested positive during hotel quarantine, according to the government.
The Shanghai Municipal Health Commission said on Saturday that sequencing tests indicated that the cases in this wave of local infection were of the Omicron variant and that source tracing was underway.
Also, 25 imported confirmed cases and 10 imported asymptomatic cases were reported in Shanghai on Saturday. The total number of imported confirmed cases receiving medical treatment at the designated hospital in Shanghai climbed up to 603 by the end of Saturday.
