COVID-19 triggers class suspensions in Guangzhou

Classes for students in two districts of Guangzhou, Guangdong province, were suspended from Monday to Wednesday, following locally strengthened prevention and control measures against COVID-19.
Educational authorities in the city's Baiyun and Haizhu districts turned to online instruction for all students after reports of COVID-19 cases in the city over the weekend.
Catering services and activities in indoor public places were also suspended in Haizhu district from Monday to Wednesday, local authorities said.
On Sunday, Guangzhou reported 16 new locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases and 53 asymptomatic carriers, all detected in quarantine and high-risk areas, according to the local health commission.
Residents in the city's Baiyun, Zengcheng, Haizhu and Huadu districts were ordered on Monday to be tested.
