'Chongqing's Footprint on Silk Road' contest calls for photography entries

Dear international photojournalism colleagues:

Chongqing, a municipality in Southwest China with over 32 million people, serves an intersection point for trade and projects involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and the Yangtze River Economic Belt. In recent years, it has deepened exchanges and cooperation with countries and regions involved in the BRI, promoting local economic prosperity and deepening the friendship between the peoples. Join us in capturing the achievements through the photography solicitation and share the story of mutual prosperity.

4. Contents

4.1

International Cooperation Practice: Focusing on the cooperation projects between Chongqing and the countries and regions involved in the BRI in the fields of infrastructure construction, trade and investment, humanistic exchanges, science and technology, environmental protection, agriculture, medical care, education and so on.

4.2

Cooperating Countries Present: Photographing the Belt and Road countries and regions with which Chongqing cooperates, showing their unique charms through characters, landscapes, cultural elements, etc., and presenting the close ties and friendly exchanges between Chongqing and these countries and regions, as well as the results of cooperation between the two sides.

5. Rules

5.1

All entries must be original, authentic and in line with the theme of the solicitation.

5.2

Entries should present positive images of the cooperation between Chongqing and the countries and regions involved in the BRI.

5.3

Entries can be single photos or groups of photos. Single photos should be taken after Jan 1, 2015. The number of entries submitted by each contributor is up to 10 pictures (groups), with no more than six pictures per group. The same contributor can choose to submit a variety of categories, but the same work cannot be repeated and submitted to different categories.

5.4

Entries should be in JPG format, with no less than 3,000 pixels on the long edge, and limited to 3MB-6MB in size. The entries must not contain any marks or watermarks that display the author's name, organization, or any other identifying information.

5.5

Entries must include a true, accurate and concise caption provided by the creator. The caption should contain the time, location and a description of the scene, along with any important or necessary background information. In addition to a general description of the series, each photo in a series must also have an individual caption. (Please use English or Chinese, with a limit of 200 English words or 300 Chinese characters.)

5.6

Both black-and-white and color entries are acceptable, but post-processing must not compromise the authenticity of the works.

5.7

The contributors must ensure that their entries do not infringe upon the legal rights of third parties, including but not limited to copyrights, portrait rights, reputation rights, and privacy rights. The contributors will be full liable for any issues arising from their submissions or related actions.

6. Submission

Please send the entries and descriptions to the official email: cqphoto@chinadaily.com.cn. The email subject should be labeled "cqphoto + Creator's Name".

7. Awards and Prizes

7.1

The contest will invite renowned photography experts to form a jury to select the works.

7.2

*First prize: 1 winner, with a sponsored trip to Chongqing and attend the award ceremony.

*Second prize: 2 winners, with a sponsored trip to Chongqing and attend the award ceremony.

*Third prize: 6 winners, with fine souvenirs.

*Excellence prize: a certain number of winners, with fine souvenirs.

7.3

Excellent entries will be displayed in China Daily newspaper and its Internet platforms, and have the opportunity to be selected for the "Belt and Road" themed photography exhibitions.

8. Statement

8.1

Once a work is selected, the organizers have the right to use it for reproduction, distribution, exhibition, screening, information network transmission, compilation, etc. during the copyright period without further payment for the creators.

8.2

Contributors are required to ensure the originality of their works, and any copyright disputes shall be borne by the contributors.

8.3

The final interpretation of this activity belongs to the organizers. Anyone who submits a work is deemed to have agreed to all the provisions of the call for submissions.
