Yuyuan Lantern Festival to light up Bangkok this summer

The Yuyuan Lantern Festival is set to go global once again, with its next stop in Bangkok, Thailand, this summer.
On May 27, China announced a list of 2025 and 2026 major national cultural initiatives for overseas promotion. Among the selected initiatives was the overseas edition of the Yuyuan Lantern Festival, titled Spirit of Mountains and Seas.
The Spirit of Mountains and Seas·Yuyuan Lantern Festival and 2025 China-Thailand Culture Month will be held from June 27 to Aug 15 at Iconsiam, a major commercial complex in Bangkok.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations. The event also celebrates the enduring friendship between Shanghai and Bangkok, which became friendship cities in 2016.
The festival's theme draws inspiration from a mythical geography book known as Shan Hai Jing (The Classic of Mountains and Seas). Blending traditional Chinese aesthetics with light and shadow technology, it promises Thai audiences an immersive cultural experience that showcases the beauty of Eastern art.
