Witnessing heritage: Xi's cultural encounters

President Xi Jinping has always emphasized the importance of protecting and promoting intangible cultural heritage. Following in his footsteps, let's explore the outstanding Chinese intangible cultural heritage.

Today, we highlight the Jiaya Tibetan carpet weaving tradition, which has been practiced for over 300 years in Jiaya village in Northwest China's Qinghai province. The carpets are known for their durability, long-lasting bright colors and elastic texture.
During a visit to a Tibetan carpet manufacturer in Qinghai on June 7, 2021, Xi praised the craft as "valuable and meaningful". He also noted that the Tibetan carpet sector, an industry that suits Qinghai's actual situation, helps people get out of poverty, boost rural vitalization, and promotes ethnic unity.
