The spokesman said the HKSAR government accepted the advice of the Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee and approved four grants from the Fund totaling 9.18 million HK dollars (US$1.19 million) to three relief agencies that are to undertake the relief projects.

The spokesman said the committee hoped the four grants would help provide relief to the victims.

The grants include 2.09 million HK dollars (about US$269,900) to the Amity Foundation for providing relief to earthquake victims in Yunnan province, and 3.67 million HK dollars (US$474,000) to the same foundation for relief to flood victims in Guizhou and Hunan provinces, as well as Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The grants also include 2.5 million HK dollars (about US$322,900) to World Vision Hong Kong for relief to flood victims in Jiangxi Province and Guangxi, and 0.92 million HK dollars (about US$118,800) to the Association of Chinese Evangelical Ministry Limited for relief to flood victims in Hunan Province.

"To ensure that the money is used for the designated purposes, the three relief agencies have been asked to submit evaluation reports and audited accounts on the use of the grants after the relief projects are completed," the spokesman said.
