先說“in the wind”吧。這個(gè)詞組表示的意思是形容某事即將發(fā)生，也許跟漢語里的“風(fēng)聲”有點(diǎn)相似。
例如：Changes in top management of the company have been in the wind for weeks.
幾周來人們一直在傳說，公司上層即將進(jìn)行改組。
又如：They sensed that there was something in the wind.他們察覺到要有事發(fā)生了。
而in the air 表示“在流傳中，流行的”，和in the wind不同，它所描述的事情一般來說是會(huì)發(fā)生的，在人們腦海中縈繞，而不僅僅是傳聞而已。
如：The war filled people’s thoughts every day; it was in the air.人們只是一門心思地想著即將爆發(fā)的戰(zhàn)爭。
In the air 還可表示某事懸而未決，不確定。如：Our plans are still in the air. 我們的計(jì)劃仍懸而未決。
