Pull one's leg 乍看起來(lái)似乎和中文里的“拉后腿”的意思差不多。但是 pull one's leg的真正意思是逗別人，開(kāi)別人玩笑的意思。
這一用法在口語(yǔ)中經(jīng)常出現(xiàn)。 以扮演《憨豆先生》(Mr.Bean)聞名的英國(guó)喜劇泰斗羅溫·艾金森(Rowan Atkinson) 的《體罰致死》(Fatal Beatings) 作品中有一句話是這樣的：I’ve been joking. Mr. Perkins. Pardon me; it's my strange academic sense of humor. I’ve been pulling your leg. 意思就是說(shuō)，我是在和你開(kāi)玩笑，這是我特有的學(xué)究式的幽默。
當(dāng)你覺(jué)得別人是在開(kāi)你玩笑， 你也可以用這一短語(yǔ)來(lái)回應(yīng)。例如：Hey, stop pulling my leg, will you! （喂，你別逗我了，行不行！）
