pyramid selling: 傳銷(xiāo)

西班牙警方5月9日起開(kāi)始調(diào)查一起利用郵票進(jìn)行傳銷(xiāo)詐騙的超級(jí)大案。據(jù)估計(jì)，西班牙約有20多萬(wàn)個(gè)人投資者被卷入其中，涉案金額達(dá)5400萬(wàn)歐元。

報(bào)道中的pyramid
selling就是“傳銷(xiāo)”。在日常生活中，人們常用pyramid（金字塔）來(lái)形容一種“基礎(chǔ)廣闊、自下而上逐級(jí)狹窄的社會(huì)現(xiàn)象”，如：education
pyramid（教育“金字塔”） 就是指“按既定標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，通過(guò)層層篩選、淘汰，選拔出符合既定標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的精英”。
但在“傳銷(xiāo)”中，人們卻反其義，拿pyramid（金字塔）來(lái)形容“由上而下”而非“由下而上”的運(yùn)作模式，即“用尖頂來(lái)比喻上線，基于上線，逐上而下次第發(fā)展許多下線”。
舉一個(gè)有關(guān)pyramid比喻義的例子：
A glance at the income distribution in the US shows how pointed is the income
pyramid, how broad its base.
（觀察美國(guó)的收入分配，可以看出其“金字塔”形的收入結(jié)構(gòu)，頂部有多尖，底部有多寬。）
