"包月訂閱服務"可以用monthly subscription service表示。Subscription一般指報刊等的訂閱、訂購，如取消訂閱(cancel subscription)，續訂(renew subscription)。Subscription在英式英語中也指會員費。訂購者則是subscriber，如有線電視用戶(subscriber to cable television)。

Kindle Unlimited是亞馬遜于2014年7月18日推出的一項服務，在美國，Kindle Unlimited的定價是9.99美元每月。Kindle Unlimited以付費包月的形式來借閱圖書，與以往購買單本電子書的永久擁有權(permanent ownership)的閱讀方式截然不同。Kindle Unlimited服務最多支持同時借閱10本圖書(keep up to ten books at a time)。

23日，這項服務正式在華上線。用戶每月僅需支付12元，即可通過Kindle電子書閱讀器、手機客戶端以及電腦客戶端等任意Kindle平臺，暢享閱讀。此外，用戶還可以試用7天(a 7-day trial)，費用僅為0.1元。訂閱用戶(subscribers)在借閱電子書時，只需找到帶有Kindle Unlimited標志的圖書(look for e-books with Kindle Unlimited logo)，點擊"免費借閱"(click on the "Read for Free" link)，圖書便會自動發送到用戶綁定的終端，讀者在會員期內可無限次借閱。

此項服務旨在為中國用戶提供更靈活的閱讀方式(a more flexible way to read)，促進中國新興電子書市場的發展(foster China's nascent e-book market)。
