Hohhot’s cloud computing center has become China’s biggest big data base over the past few years, with a service capacity of one million servers when operating.

As present, China’s three giant telecom operators, China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom, have built cloud computing data centers in Hohhot, with a total investment of over 50 billion yuan ($7.2 billion).

The Inner Mongolia Branch of China Mobile has invested 12 billion yuan in constructing a cloud computing base, and aims to house 54,000 bracket-shaped servers and 18 computing rooms, according to Zhang Fei, manager of the construction office of the cloud computing center of Inner Mongolia Branch of China Mobile.

Also, the center gives access to other telecom operators, with an annual utilization rate of over 99 percent.

The city also features one of the top three power grids, the Inner Mongolia Power (Group) Co Ltd, which can provide stable and strong power for big data centers and cloud computing enterprises.

The Hohhot government has poured resources into cloud computing construction and big data development, with the ambition of building China’s Cloud Valley in the region.
