Liu Qibao, secretary of Sichuan provincial Party Committee, said that Sichuan would plan and construct the Chengdu Tianfu New Area at the working conference of Sichuan province. The conference was held on Sep 1 and 2 of 2010 and was part of the West China Development Strategy.
This area aims to become an internationalized modern new town based on their manufacturing industry. It will offer high-end services and become an ideal place for business and trade operations.
The Chengdu Tianfu New Areawill develop a new region of national level, after Shanghai Pudong New District. In the course of boosting the modern industries of Chengdu, it will aid the economic development of western China as a whole.
The construction of the Chengdu Tianfu New Areawill attract advanced manufacturing and high end service industries. This will include an IT, new materials, space flight and aviation, logistics, finance, and trade industry. On Nov 16, 2011, the Sichuan provincial government approved the Overall Program for Development of Chengdu Tianfu New Areain Chengdu, Sichuan Province (2010—2030).
