Orlando Bloom has raised ￡9,000 for charity by auctioning off a dinner date to one lucky fan.

Orlando Bloom has sold a date with himself for ￡9,000 (€410,000).

The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star – who is rumoured to be engaged to Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr - auctioned off a dinner date at a star-studded charity bash for London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital this week. . The 32-year-old actor was joined at the Victoria and Albert museum by Formula One racing driver Lewis Hamilton, British TV presenter Vernon Kay and Jade Jagger as they helped raise over ￡450,000 (€530,000) for the children’s charity.

Other lots up for sale included British driver Lewis’ customised diamond-encrusted racing helmet, which fetched ￡30,000 (435,000), and a high-speed lap of Silverstone racecourse before the start of this year’s British Grand Prix.

Guests were treated to a champagne reception and an intimate performance by ‘Warwick Avenue’ singer Duffy.

Orlando is not the only celebrity to sell himself for charity.

Earlier this year, supermodel Kate Moss sold a kiss for ￡5,000 (€5,800) at another fundraising event for the specialist children’s hospital.

‘Twilight’ star Robert Pattinson scooped a staggering ￡40,000 (€47,000) by kissing two teenage girls at the Cannes Film Festival.
