New trade protection measures adopted by developed countries like the United States against China will not only sour bilateral relations but also hamper global recovery, Supachai Panitchpakdi, secretary-general of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) said on Sept 8.

China is dedicated to creating a "more open and optimized" investment environment for foreign businesses, and will strive to remain the world's most attractive destination for foreign direct investment (FDI), Vice-President Xi Jinping said on Sept 7.

The trade surplus for the full year will continue to narrow on the back of steps taken by the government to boost domestic demand and imports, Minister of Commerce Chen Deming said on Sept 7.
